The exhaust was blasted with coal slag to remove the rust and strip it back to bare metal. It was then internally cleaned it by heating with a MAPP torch until the internal deposits of oily carbon caught fire and burned away.
I bought this TY175 recently at Mid-Ohio Vintage Days. It runs, but has been well used and neglected. My plan is to fix enough problems to make it ridable and then restore it over the winter.
