The finish on emblems with the word “YAMAHA” were damaged either before I got the bike. I would have replaced them if new ones weren’t so damn expensive. List price for one of these plastic emblems is $55.00 (or $36.00 mail order).
I decided to try refinishing them and came up with a technique that works pretty well.
Hi David, Thanks. Yes, I cleared over it (using SEM 2k clear). The little wrinkles appeared a couple of hours after applying the foil. I’m thinking the black wasn’t completely cured.
Very clever! I had known about Bare-Metal from plastic model hobby years but didn’t think about using it for this application. Did you clear over it for durability, or have you done this previously?
