Found this sad 1982 Yamaha XS400 Seca on Cragislist for cheap. Bought it as a project to work on with my 14 year old son. I thought it would be fun to see if we could get it running again. The bike came from a guy who cleans out houses in exchange for the unwanted contents.
The original gas tank is missing. The tank in the photos doesn’t fit, but was included in the deal. I think it’s from a Suzuki. The carburetors are also missing.
Here’s how it’s possible to get a title for old vehicles in Massachusetts. I don’t know if this’ll work in Pennsylvania.
That is a latter-year XS400 Seca (front fender/tail/seat at least); latter-year XS400 did not have the front frame down tube and had the mono-shock rear. I assume (from your source description) that you did not get a title. That is usually a deal breaker for making it road-worthy where I live (PA) as it is just too hard to get the DOT registration w/o a notarized title. Usually means getting a titled frame in addition to parts to make it run.
