I bought this TY175 recently at Mid-Ohio Vintage Days. It runs, but has been well used and neglected. My plan is to fix enough problems to make it ridable and then restore it over the winter.

After reading a few articles, we’ll posts on trading out the TY 175 forks for TY250 forks, wondering if it’s for me. I’m bigger, have access to a roller 250. I own a couple TLs, and now this TY 175. I’m not a trials guy but think I’m going to start.
In the PNW, I usually work trials sections so the other guys can ride. I’m pretty much doing any chores at ahrma events, just going to ride from here on out.
Looking forward to riding this TY
Appreciate your reviews and “ How to” pics.
Thanks. I haven’t been keeping up with the changes on my ty175. The text and photos are all several years old. Glad you find them helpful.
Installing the ty250 forks is an easy bolt-on swap if you use the yokes from the 250. Well worth giving them a try IMO. The ty175 is a great machine, has a huge following and great parts availability. Lots of speciality and reproduction parts are available from the UK if you can’t get what you want from Speed & Sport.
Very nice, I picked up a runnerTY 175 for 250.00 going thru the process, using your ideas and tips.
Thank you very much for sharing.
This will take time, I just purchased a 1975 TL 125 Honda in a Mic Andrews Tall Boy aftermarket frame. The frame, swingarm triple clamp are all brand new. New Dunlops and New gas shocks. I’ve had a 150 cc kit on the shelf for ooo 18 years now.
Called my friend Scott Fisher in Bend, he will install the 150 kit next week.
Then it’s back full time to the TY175.
$250.00 is a bargain. They’re getting hard to find. I like my ty, it’s my main bike these days. Good luck with yours and the tl. They’re a nice pair of vintage machines.
