The old rusty fender from my SR250 is used as the plug to make a new fiberglass fender. I used this same old fender to make the new fender on the SR250.

Hi Pascal,
The material I layered over the fiberglass is called “release fabric”. I placed it over the top layer of fiberglass while the epoxy was still wet. It helps level out the epoxy and compress the wet layers of fiberglass. I think traditionally it’s used in conjunction with vacuum bagging. But I’ve found it to be useful by itself. Here’s where I purchased mine. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/product.do?process=checkout&part=37896 Hopefully, you can find similar stuff in Belgium

Hello hdscarbro,
I’m very impres from your job !
Thanks for all the information that we receive from your experience…
I want to use the same process to make my “home made seat” for my XS400 (79).
I see with your explication that the result after the fiberglas layup is much better after placing a material directly on the layup.
Can you tell me more information about wich material do you use ? Is it directly placed on the layup before it begin to became stronger ? Is it easy to removed without crack on the layup ?
Thank you…
