Two of the Moto-Bikes that I restored were missing the headset plug. The plug is plastic and held in place with rubber that is compressed by tightening a screw on the top of the plug.
Using an original plug as a model, I made a replacement from 1″ delrin rod, rubber tubing, a tee nut and a screw. The delrin plug was turned on my lathe.
Thanks I think I got that covered looking for a banana seat and tires huge nobbys thanks
For tires, I used these. They’re also available without white lettering. They’re Kenda tires.
Have any idea where repo parts can be found ?i remember a few years back there was a site just for these bikes ? Thanks
eBay is the only place I know about for parts. If you’re looking for a headset plug. I made one of the bikes that I restored. One another one, I used a plastic end plug from the hardware store. It looked pretty good and was cheap. If you really want one like the original, I could make one out of delrin with the screw and expansion rubber for $20.00. It takes a lot of time to make a one off part.
Just picked up the moto bike today after 40 years of having one lots of memory’s going to refurb it
Congratulations on finding a moto-bike. They’re getting to be expensive. Good luck with the restoration.
